The Hadith’s subject should be given precedence over logic and intellect

Abdullah bin Unays Al-Juhani narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Who will go and kill Khalid bin Nubayh–from the tribe of Huzayl–for my sake?’ He was camping in Arafah on that day. So I said: ‘I will kill him O Messenger of Allah! Describe him for me.’ He said: ‘If you see him, you will become afraid of him.’ I said: ‘By Him who honored you! I am not afraid of anything!’ So I went out till I saw him at a mountain in Arafah before sunset. When I came close to him, I became afraid of him, and I recalled the Prophet’s comment that I would become afraid of him. When the man saw me, he said: ‘Who are you?’ I said: ‘I am a needy person, so can I stay the night here?’ He said: ‘Yes, you are entitled to it.’ So I followed him. When I was alone, I quickly prayed two units of Asr, then went out towards him out of fear that he will catch me praying. When I met him, I struck him with my sword and went and hid behind a mountain till people left that place. I then went back to the Messenger of Allah in Madinah and informed him about this incident.’ Muhammad bin Ka’b said: ‘The Messenger of Allah gave Abdullah bin Unays a staff and said: ‘Keep this staff in your hand until you meet me on the Day of Judgment, and very few hold a staff.’ Muhammad bin Ka’b then said: ‘When Abdullah bin Unays was on his death-bed, he issued a command regarding that staff. When he passed away, he was shrouded with that staff being placed on his stomach, and he was buried with it.
